Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ostap Semerak met with a delegation from Alberta - a western province of Canada. During the meeting, the parties discussed possible assistance in reforming of subsoil management sector.
Ostap Semerak noted that comprehensive reforming of the legislation in subsurface resources management is among the priority areas of activity for the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
"We expect that implementation of this reform will significantly increase the efficiency of exploration and enhance the mineral and raw material potential, thereby leading to the improvement of investment climate in Ukraine," said Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ostap Semerak during the meeting.
The parties discussed the identified priorities for subsoil management reform, which were being developed with the support of European experts, and agreed on Canadian experts to be involved in this process.
Apart from that, in view of the successful international expertise of the province of Alberta in support of the reform in other countries, the sides also agreed on technical assistance provision to the Ministry of Natural Resources to ensure success in pursuing the reform.
It should be noted, the working group on the reform of relations in subsoil management sector reviewed the first package of legislative changes offered by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources in this area.
In addition, the Ministry also initiates the creation in Ukraine of a single State Register of Geological Information aimed to facilitate doing business and encourage investment in this sector.
