Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly and Head of Ukraine Parliament’s Permanent Delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Artur Gerasymov had a meeting with United States Senator from Mississippi and Chairman of the U.S. Helsinki Commission Roger Wicker.

The Senator was requested to further support in his capacity as a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee in particular the inclusion in the U.S. FY 2018 defense budget of legislative initiatives aimed to further expand the U.S. security assistance to Ukraine. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of provision of U.S. weapons of a defensive nature to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Discussed were also prospects for a deepened U.S.-Ukraine cooperation in cyber security.

Senator Wicker was briefed on the latest steps taken by Ukraine in the implementation of reforms. Artur Gerasymov and Roger Wicker coordinated the positions of the U.S. and Ukraine’s delegations to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
