Ukraine has lived
for over 600 days without Russian gas, while state energy companies are not
buying Russian coal, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced
during A Question Time
for the Government at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
According to him,
the Government makes every effort to invigorate the economy and diversify
export markets as well as sources of import, in particular in the energy sector.
"For a year
and a half we have reduced the consumption of anthracite coal, switched over to
our domestic gas, engaged in modernization of mining of fossil fuels. And you are
well aware that state-owned companies do not buy coal from Russia", the
Prime Minister said.
He underlined that the Government stands committed to abandon any kind of dependency, and for this purpose embarked on development of the domestic production of energy carriers, inter alia coal and gas.
