The policy
pursued by the Government of Ukraine to increase its domestic gas production
will allow this year to grow extraction by 600-700 million cubic meters, and in
2020 to achieve absolute energy independence of Ukraine and to change pricing
policy in the fuel market towards diminution in value. This was stated by Prime
Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during the Cabinet’s session.
“Last year I announced a course to replace imported gas with that of Ukrainian production. We set the task to SE Ukrgazvydobuvannya to boost production. We managed to halt the decline in extraction, and switched to increased production volumes”, said the Head of Government. “When we become a state that can fully supply its demands with domestic gas, and it is expected in 2020, we will move on to a different model of formation of gas prices. And it will be cheaper than to import not for a month or two, but once for all."
