  • Pavlo Rozenko and Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Children's Rights discussed the reform of protection and upbringing of children

    Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko and the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Children's Rights Mykola Kuleba tackled the process of pursuing the Action Plan on the implementation of the first phase of the National Strategy of Reforming the System of Institutional Care and Parenting for 2017-2026.

    The attendees of the meeting were Serhiy Kasyanchuk, Director of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) Mission to Ukraine, John Holuk, Project Manager of the UWC, Marianna Onufryk, Chief of Social Programs of the Institute for Social and Economic Research.

    «The adopted strategy of reforming the system of institutional care and parenting of children is a far-reaching reform, it is a real prospect of development of our country and one of the powerful  engines of Ukraine's integration  into the world society», Pavlo Rozenko stressed in the course of the meeting.

    «It is of utmost importance in the process of implementation of the said action plan to dispel myths and biases existing around the process of deinstitutionalisation. "We need to overcome myths and hoax around this issue. Hence, the goal of deinstitutionalisation is not closing down institutions, but rather creating new conditions and opportunities for each child», the Vice Prime Minister emphasized.

    The participants of the meeting placed a special emphasis  on discussing implementation arrangements and coordinating the implementation of the relevant action plan.
