Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announces the elaboration of a unified transport
development strategy, including rail, air and maritime transport aimed to
create a transparent and competitive transport market in Ukraine. Relevant
agreements were reached during a meeting of the Prime Minister with
representatives of business circles and field-specific business associations.
«Infrastructure is of utmost importance for the development of the economy,
for strengthening of Ukraine's position in international markets and for the
creation of jobs. We need the JSC Ukrzaliznytsia,
ports, river transport, highways to be worked as a single system that allows
businesses to develop and achieve their targets», Volodymyr
Groysman claimed.
The attendees of the meeting brought up a lot of questions in connection
with the work of the transport system in Ukraine. «Today, we need a transport
development strategy concerning road, rail, air and maritime transport.
Meanwhile, our international partners are building up their logistic potential, we simply lose it because of the lack of the
strategy, transparency and openness.
Each company that is present here has both a clear strategy and goal, however our transport industry doesn’t have the
blueprint of development. Meanwhile, the infrastructure should become a quality
service for the economy», stressed the Prime Minister.
On the outcomes of the meeting, the Head of Government instructed to
summon a similar meeting in a month and a half and commissioned the Ministry of
Infrastructure of Ukraine to shape a strategic vision for the development of
the transport sector which will be presented at the said meeting.
In turn, the participants of the meeting proposed a number of
initiatives that could be considered both at the level of the Government and at
the level of Parliament. The said issues can be discussed at the level of the
Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, in case of
necessity will be included in the provisions of the unified transport
development strategy.
