Stepan Kubiv held a meeting with the delegation of the China Exim Bank
July 12, First Vice Prime Minister/ Minister of
Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv held a meeting with the delegation of the
Export-Import Bank of China to tackle issues pertaining to the implementation
of projects launched in 2011-2012 in the field of infrastructure and
agro-industry.
Stepan Kubiv
proposed to change approaches to the implementation of the said projects with
the participation of the China Exim Bank and outlined possible alternative
projects for cooperation.
«I am assured that all joint initiatives of 2011-2012 should be
evaluated on the basis of their strategic importance for the Ukrainian economy.
For example, in relation to the Air Express project: several variants of the
railway connection between Kyiv and the Boryspil
International Airport, including "light metro" or tram trains, are
being processed in order to increase the number of passengers and improve the
quality of service on this route. I think that all projects should be based on
the principle of finding a highly beneficial solution for Ukraine and China», Stepan Kubiv asserted.
The First Vice Prime Minister talked about the
possibility of applying a similar approach to other projects, including the
project of construction of the road M-22 Poltava- Olexandria.
«Given these circumstances, we can begin bilateral negotiations in order
to lodge an application for these two concessional loans. Ukraine stands ready
to discuss and act in all directions of mutually beneficial cooperation with
China», stressed Stepan Kubiv.
He emphasized that Ukraine intends to increase the volume of grain trade
to 4-5 million tons per year, which will allow to ensure a breakeven level for
the project of the PJSC “State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine”
(so-called Grain project).
The conversation also involved the acceleration of providing necessary
documents in order to use credit funds for the development of infrastructure
(port elevators, grain carriers), procurement of plant protection products and
other projects.
