Odesa
hosts the U.S.-Ukrainian Exercise Sea Breeze 2017 gathering 16 nations (31
ships and vessels, 29 aircrafts, more than 3,000 troops). This year exercise
will deal with multinational security operation in crisis region. Commander of
the Ukraine’s Navy Vice Admiral Ihor Voronchenko, Head of Odesa
Regional State Administration Maksym Stepanov, Head of Odesa Regional
Council Anatoliy Urbanskyi,
Ukrainian and U.S. co-directors of maneuvers, and maneuvers participants
attended an opening ceremony. Vice Admiral Ihor Voronchenko stressed the importance of the exercise in view
of increase of joint security capabilities in the Black Sea region, “Since
1997, these maneuvers have been assisting to achieve the NATO standards in
troops training and deployment. Considering challenges and threats, experience
of previous years this year we will pay attention to training of national
headquarters”. The exercise will be held in Odesa and
Mykolaiv oblasts till July 23.
