An initiated by the US sanctions policy in response to the Kremlin’s actions in the east of Ukraine has become a major instrument to counter aggression and to ensure settlement of the situation in Donbass. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman in the course of the meeting with former U.S. Secretary of State, Board Chairman of the U.S. National Democratic Institute Madeleine Albright.

«I am personally grateful to Mrs. Madeleine Albright for consolidation of international efforts in support of Ukraine, inter alia for overwhelming support of the process of implementation reforms in our country, emphasized Volodymyr Groysman, adding that the U.S. sanctions policy is a powerful instrument in the issue of countering Russian aggression in the east of Ukraine.»

The Prime Minister called on American party to continue close cooperation aimed to increase capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces as well as to consider possibility of providing defensive weapons to Ukraine.

In turn, Madeleine Albright commended the Government's efforts and practical measures in carrying out tangible reforms and praised its positive results, apart in combatting corruption, improving both investment and business climate and stabilizing macroeconomic indicators.
