An offered by the Government of Ukraine draft pension reform encapsulates a preservation of retirement age, an increase of payments based on lengt of service, an abolition of taxation of pensions for working retirees, a deficit-free budget of the Pension Fund as well as is aimed to undo mistakes of the existent pension system – unfair and nonviable. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during communication with journalists in Chernihiv.

«The proposed by the Government step is a right thing. The said step provides the answer to several questions. First, the increase in payments in case of approval by the Parliament will become possible from October 1 to 9 million pensioners. Second, it offers an opportunity to restore justice. The retirement age remains 60 for people who have an insurance period of 25 years. Some politicians try to speculate on this issue, but we must admit that the pension - a reward for hard work. A person works, makes contributions (to the Pension Fund) and then receives a decent pension. As for today it does not make sense if a person has a labor experience or not – he or she will receive a minimum payment and thereby today more than 80% of pensioners receive such payment. We will restore justice, further will abolish taxation of pensions for working retirees and will eliminate the budget deficit of the Pension Fund in 7 years», urged the Prime Minister.

Volodymyr Groysman highlighted that the solution had been found. «I believe that the Government in synergy with the President, the coalition factions, MPs who came to serve the interests of citizens will approve this decision. Our retirees are very much looking forward to this reform. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine should approve the draft pension reform, the Government should implement it. And I bear full responsibility for the fact that the reform will be successful. I am in line to answer for this reform before every pensioner, every working person», summed up the Prime Minister.
