The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine a package of bills on healthcare reform, drafted in synergy with the Ministry of Health, MPs and experts, and is looking forward to discussing initiatives soon. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during his visit to the site of the construction of the National Children's Specialized Hospital "OKHMATDYT".

“We need to change the system of medicine in Ukraine. The program of reforms proposed by the Ministry, the Government, considered by the National Council of Reforms jointly with MPs proves to be the answer to the question of how to change the medical system in the country”, explained the Prime Minister. “We have a hope that the package of bills, which was submitted to the Parliament, will be included in the agenda, and we will find support and adopt correct decisions enabling to make the health care system effective."

The Prime Minister reminded that the key condition for the health reform is to improve the quality of medical services and, therefore, to increase life expectancy in Ukraine. One of the ways to achieve this goal is the introduction of autonomy of medical institutions. "What do we have to finance: the walls of hospitals or the quality of medical services? The answer is obvious: the service is provided, the funds are received. Autonomization of hospitals is the right step, in what the hospitals will have a chance to become competitive, efficient", said the Prime Minister.

He stressed that currently Ukraine was following the way of the European Union countries they had experienced to pass ten years ago. That is why the Government along with carrying out systemic changes is working on programs of building new medical centers of different purposes - perinatal centers and cardio centers. "Our efforts, the endeavours of the President and the Parliament will yield a result. We should unite and adopt decisions in this issue", said Volodymyr Groysman.
