Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman assures that the economy of Donetsk region despite its frontline status will show a growing trend, to this end the Government will spare no efforts to provide support and assistance for industrial centers of the region - such as Mariupol. This was stated by the Head of Government during a ceremony dedicating a symbolic cornerstone for the future construction of a new production-transshipping grain terminal in the State Enterprise "Mariupol Sea Trading Port”. Volodymyr Groysman visited one of the largest ports in Ukraine in the course of his working trip to Donetsk region.

“We kick off a process of building a new grain terminal as well as give the start to construction of the new cluster. This reflects the fact that the port and economy of the region will be developing. There are investments, hence people will have jobs, the country and local authorities -revenues to the budget. Life will be in progress”, said Volodymyr Groysman.

He stressed that Mariupol is of great strategic importance not only for Donbass, but also for the whole country, because here large industrial companies are concentrated, especially mining and smelting complexes, which generally forms a third share of the Ukrainian GDP. That is why it requires a new industrial and infrastructure support - from the development of port infrastructure to the reconstruction of road system and launch of railway link.

The Prime Minister recalled that today a modernized railroad haul Komysh-ZoryaVolnovakha was opened under the instruction of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. This will offer an opportunity to increase of capacity of railway line in half and to establish connections with other industrial centers - especially Odessa. A new train to Odessa direction will be started from June 20 and new routes connecting Mariupol with other cities will be worked out as well.

“Our essential task - to strengthen your economic development, to enable the city to start reconstruction and modernization of the port. And as a result –to handle more cargo operations. This is a strategic objective aimed at boosting economic development. And it applies to the whole region as well as to the city of Mariupol. I am convinced that the economy will only show a growing trend. I draw you attention to the fact that the budget of Mariupol was to the tune of UAH 200 million. Today it amounts to UAH 1 billion. These funds can be allocated for road repairs, social services, kindergartens as well as modernizing of public transport, "underscored the Prime Minister.
