The Government kicked off a major overhaul and construction of roads, to
this end the priority of these activities should be to ensure quality of roadwork
as well as to ensure security on Ukrainian highways. This statement was issued
by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during Gov’t session.
«One of the central issues is – a
road system. Yesterday I visited three regions and obtained information
regarding reconstruction and overhaul of roads, said the Prime Minister. It is
essential for us to ensure the same process of implementation of road repair activities, herewith we have 5 regions that demonstrate poor
performance of roadwork. These include Luhansk, Zaporizhia regions, Transcarpathia,
the city of Kyiv and Mykolaiv region. I commissioned
to summon a meeting with leaders of these regions to find out what kind of
support they require to settle the problems as soon as possible»
Volodymyr Groysman highlighted that the Cabinet of Ministers had
provided funding to the full extent. Customs have fulfilled a significant
figure of revenues to fill the budget. «We managed to accumulate only during 5
month a sum worth UAH 5.6. billion from customs
revenues». These funds will be allocated to trigger road repairs», added the
Prime Minister.
He informed that Ukravtodor State Agency of
Motor Roads pledges readiness to initiate a tender to the tune of UAH 2 billion
for works regarding western border management. «Now it is time for tenders to
be announced, afterwards the winner will be known. Everything is conducting-
through ProZorro system, said Volodymyr Groysman. Special
attention – to the control of quality of road repairs as well as to preserve
level of safety.»
In this context, the Prime Minister reiterated about another project of Ukravtodor - a special upgrading of highways by weight
complexes which are designed to prevent overloading of vehicles and therefore -
to destroy the road surfacing.
A special emphasis was placed on the suggestion to increase funding for
the section of highway Lviv – Ternopil
– Vinnitsa – Uman – Odesa.
Funds can be budgeted in the amount of 2.5. billion
hryvnias. «This is a route that will connect the western border with the ports.
And there is also a burning need to enhance the safety and quality of the road system . We are keen on proposing to enhance activities in
this direction», summed up Volodymyr Groysman.
