The key task in the process of reforming Ukraine's coal industry is increasing the profitability of mines, said Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during his conversation with journalists in the framework of his working trip to Lviv region.
Referring to the Concept of reforming and development of the coal industry up to 2020, the Prime Minister noted: "In the last Government’s meeting we approved the Concept(of reforming and development of the coal industry in the period up to 2020), aimed to pull mines out of the current state. The most important thing is we have to invest in profitability of mines. This ideology was embedded in the whole system of management of the coal industry."
Moreover, Volodymyr Groysman reminded that the focus must be security of miners. "The tragedy at the Stepova mine was a message for all heads of mines it is unacceptable to scrimp on safety of miners", said the Prime Minister.
