We will do utmost to ensure carrying out transparent and gradual privatization, says Prime Minister
The Cabinet of Ministers within the context of the priority tasks seek
to stimulate development of the country intends to begin a major overhaul of
the privatization process which has been stalled for the last 25 years. This
was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman on air of the ICTV
television channel.
He stressed that relevant legislative framework had been already
elaborated.
“The proposals of amendments to the legislation will be submitted to the
Parliament”, said Volodymyr Groysman
He recalled that Ukraine had a different experience of
denationalization, primarily negative. «When the privatization was triggered in the 90s, we all remember how
people were given some kind of paper, businesses were taken away and we bear in
mind what was the end of this- said the Head of Government. What is now? There
are inefficient enterprises. What we should do with them? The answer is - to
sell them through electronic public procurement system. It is a great step for
the first time in 25 years. Why we sell them in such a way? - to ensure that
entrepreneur who bought the company creates new jobs and starts producing a
national product.»
The Prime Minister has put an emphasis that in Ukraine there is a large
number of unprofitable state-owned enterprises. “I have never seen poor CEOs“,
stressed the Prime Minister, adding that the situation will change:
transparently and step by step.
