  • Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine takes part in the "Doha Forum 2017" in Qatar

    On May 14, 2017 in the Qatari capital under the patronage of H.H. the Emir Sheikh Tamim Al Thani the 17th Doha Forum has started. This year it is held under the slogan "Development, stability and the refugee crisis."

    The event encompasses discussion panels and debates on topical issues of the international agenda, the ongoing political process in the Middle East and North Africa, socio-economic transformation of the region, its energy security, future investment potential and problems of overcoming the consequences of massive waves of refugees, which a significant number of countries encounter as a result of armed conflicts in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and due to famine and natural disasters.

    The plenary session was opened by the Qatari monarch H.H. Sheikh Tamim Al Thani.

    The number of participants in this year's conference is 476, of which more than 300 people arrived from overseas representing 76 different countries.

    Numerous heads of states, governments, parliaments, MFA`s and other ministries are attending the Forum as well as officials, diplomats, political scientists, economists, bankers, financiers, journalists, representatives of 10 international organizations and a number of NGO`s members.

    The delegation of our country at the Doha forum is headed by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine H.E. Mr.Sergiy Kyslytsya who during the first day of the event had a brief conversation with the Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry of Qatar H.E. Dr. Ahmed Al-Hammadi, held several bilateral meetings with heads of foreign delegations and was interviewed by leading media of Qatar.

    The delegation also included the Ambassador of Ukraine H.E. Mr. Yevhen Mykytenko and diplomats from the Embassy of Ukraine in Doha.

    The Forum will wrap up on May 15.
