Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv
met with Minister of Economy of the Republic of Turkey Nihat
Zeybekci.
Stepan Kubiv
thanked Turkey for staunchest support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and
sovereignty and singled out the strategic importance of further development of
trade and economic cooperation both in the bilateral format and in the framework of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic
Cooperation.
Ukraine and Turkey have a great potential to increase significantly the
trade turnover, which amounted to USD 3.15 billion last year. First and
foremost, it is necessary to strengthen collaboration in agricultural sector,
to implement infrastructural projects, to boost cooperation in transport and IT
spheres in which Ukraine possesses enormous potential and opportunities”,
accentuated the First Vice Prime Minister.
Stepan Kubiv
noted that it is vital to enhance activities on signing of the Free Trade
Agreement between Ukraine and Turkey.
“Conclusion of a balanced and mutually beneficial Free Trade Agreement
is critically important for our countries, thus this should be the highest
priority in the work of our negotiating teams as well as of advisers”, stressed
the First Vice Prime Minister.
The sides also focused on issues of reciprocal protection of investment
as well as of the avoidance of double taxation. Turkish side has emphasized the
great interest of Turkish business circles to invest in Ukraine, to establish
deeper and more fruitful cooperation in tourism, infrastructure, transport as
well as energy sectors.
