    Fellow compatriots!

The second World War claimed dozens millions lives, destroyed thousands cities and settlements, and resulted in profound traumas suffered by many nations. No goal can become an excuse for waging war, no values can be so precious to take human lives.

The Ukrainian people like none else know the worth of the Nazi invasion. Millions of Ukrainians were murdered, tortured, deported to foreign lands. Our land became ground to the most tragic events of that terrible war. For the victory over Nazism we paid a huge price that is hard to comprehend and impossible to imagine. Objective summing up of actual casualty figures still requires the proper work of historians, because there appear new facts and previously unknown pages of those dramatic events.

We will always remember the contribution of the Ukrainian people to the victory of anti-Hitler coalition over Nazi Germany. These days we honor those who on the battlefields of the war were nearing the moment of peace, who were fighting against totalitarian ideologies, who gave their lives for the freedom of their family, their nation, their Motherland.

On the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation and the Great Victory we bow our heads before all the victims of the Second World War. The memory of them will always live in our hearts. And it should guarantee that this terrible for the entire mankind tragedy will never happen again.

1939-1945. We remember. We are winning.

Prime Minister of Ukraine                                                         Volodymyr GROYSMAN
