Prime Minister intends to raise funding for the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine by UAH 639 million
The Government backs an idea to increase funding for the National
Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (NAMS) in 2017 the sum worth UAH 639
million. A relevant commission to prepare proposals of amendments to the State
budget for 2017 was given by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman to
the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine on the results of the meeting dedicated to
the funding problems of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.
"I heard a figure of 639 million and now I give an order to the
Ministry of Finance to assess economic indicators in order to provide funding
irrespective of our decision to make amendments to the State budget which might
take place in June emphasized the Prime Minister. The National Academy of
Medical Sciences ought to be the top, progressive authority as well as to
obtain high technologies and proper working conditions. If the financing won’t
be changed - the system will remain inefficient and each institution will experience
losses”.
The Prime Minister also expressed readiness to support the idea of
expanding the number of participants in the pilot project aimed to change the
financing of medical care in private research institutions of the NAMS. In this
context, Volodymyr Groysman stressed that the medical institutions of the
Academy need to make their own income by providing quality medical services.
According to the Head of
Government the crucial task for today is consider granting
autonomy to institutions. Volodymyr Groysman urged the
Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine as well the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine to
demonstrate synergy towards aforesaid issue.
"We need to update the system, we should switch to funding specific
health services as well as in each person, assured the Prime
Minister. The change of this philosophy will provide a new impetus to
development".
In the course of the meeting President of the National Academy of
Medical Sciences of Ukraine Vitaliy Tsymbalyuk thanked the Prime Minister for the unwavering
support as well as commended the assistance of the Cabinet of Ministers of
Ukraine regarding allocation the previous year of a sum worth UAH 817 million
to the clinics.
