The whole
civilized world should demonstrate leadership and a harder line towards
defending democratic values amid unprecedented aggression by the Russian
Federation, undermining the global security system. This was stated by Prime
Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman
during the 10th Kyiv Security Forum with the participation of President of
Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Prime Ministers of
Estonian Republic, Latvian Republic, Lithuanian Republic.
"Our
challenge of today is to unite and maintain the position, to do everything
possible to make the world safe. This issue requires political leadership and a
clear assessment of the current situation", accentuated Volodymyr Groysman.
"We
must be resolute. We today really need strong and principled leadership. We
must realize clearly what will happen tomorrow, if today we do not stop the
aggression of the Russian Federation", he stressed.
The Prime
Minister emphasized that the last three years had became a vivid proof that
global security systems had failed, and our sovereign Ukraine had found itself
suffering from unprecedented aggression by the Russian Federation. This hybrid
war has acquired signs of not just a military invasion, but also economic,
energy, information aggression. Apart from its military presence in other
countries, Russia also supports the right-wing movement, supports other
processes that are targeting from within to destroy the institutions of
collective security, highlighted Volodymyr Groysman.
Ukraine
receives daily scores of blatant cynicism and outright war crimes of Russia
against Ukraine. In particular, dozens, hundreds times Ukrainian positions are
shelled, troops concentrate on the sovereign territory of the country, weapons,
resources, finance are supplied at an unprecedented amount, stressed the Head
of Government.
According
to him, today Ukraine defends the values of the democratic world, and on its
eastern borders the Ukrainian soldiers are protecting eastern borders of
Europe.
"If at
first someone was thinking it is just the invasion to Ukraine, today we can
testify that this is the beginning of the global invasion, global fight against
the values on which today the entire civilized, democratic world is based. We
are struggling for sovereignty, respect for international law, for democracy,
for the fact that the state borders in the twenty-first century should be
inviolable, for the right of States to self-determination. These are the values
that today are protected by Ukrainian soldiers defending not only the eastern
border of our country, but also defending the eastern borders of Europe",
urged Volodymyr Groysman.
In this
context the Head of Government stressed that calls by some countries to ease
sanctions against the aggressor country is a sign of weakness.
"When
I hear that it’s necessary to weaken, to turn a blind eye to it, I always ask
who will be the next, if today we are not capable of overcoming the aggression
that has become a challenge for the whole world?” stressed the Prime Minister.
“We must soberly evaluate what is happening, and to respond adequately to these
challenges. Then we can say that we will win. We have no other choice - we
should win, the only question is - how long this struggle will last, and what
losses we will suffer in this struggle for the values."
