On 29 March
2017, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine hosted the coordination meeting
of the ministries and Government agencies of Ukraine with organizations of the
United Nations system.
Participants of the meeting included
senior officials of the ministries and Government agencies, working with the
UN, parliamentarians as well as heads of the UN organizations, accredited in
Ukraine.
In their opening addresses Deputy
Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Sergiy Kyslytsya and UN Resident Coordinator, Humanitarian
Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative Neal Walker emphasized good cooperation
between the Ukrainian Side and United Nations in support of economic and social
changes in Ukraine, as well as UN important contribution into the efforts,
aimed to address the humanitarian needs of people affected as a result of the
Russian aggression, including the internally displaced persons.
The meeting’s participants discussed
the progress in preparation of a new partnership framework between Ukraine and
the United Nations for 2018-2022. Particular attention was given to the issue
of reinforcing synergies to promote sustainable development, social
integration, human rights, democratic governance and
to strengthen humanitarian response.
The interlocutors also agreed to
promote further fruitful cooperation between the UN and ministries and
Government agencies of Ukraine, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs providing
its overall coordination.
