Proper preparedness of the Government for the heating season had enabled to prevent electricity blackout that could be likely because of the energy blockade, stressed Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman at the Gov’t session on Thursday in the process of consideration of the decree “On temporary introduction of emergency measures in the national electricity market”.

“The fact that we’ve managed to escape rotating power cuts proves the only thing: we have geared up for winter season perfectly. We had created the strategic resource because we had expected Russia to cut off coal supplies. I was thinking they would do it themselves, but they have done it using other people”, underlined Volodymyr Groysman.

The Head of the Government reiterated that the preparation for the heating season had been conducted since summer and had proved its efficiency.

In this context, Volodymyr Groysman thanked Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion for coordination of the work as well as for taking necessary operational decisions.

Speaking of the negative consequences of the energy blockade, the Prime Minister said:”The strategic reserves are being exhausted. The emergency measures help us to change regimes of regulation and functioning of the energy system. But the system cannot work to the point of exhaustion. We don’t hesitate there will be problems”.

The Government spares no effort to eliminate or mitigate any negative consequences, stressed the Prime Minister.

The meetings of the Anti-crisis energy headquarters are held on a regular basis. The Government engages in development of various options to ensure stability of the situation and alternative plans.

Apart from that, the Economic headquarters chaired by First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine/ Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv is constantly monitoring, analyzing the effects of the blockade on the economy, national currency, trade balance. Volodymyr Groysman considers it of utmost importance to show these documents to organizers of the energy blockade.

“Those who organized the energy blockade must understand what they have done to each Ukrainian citizen”, stresses the Prime Minister.

“The situation is rather complex, it requires a daily process management", summed up Volodymyr Groysman.
