It is crucial for Ukraine to create a power exchange and transparent market for coal, assures Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman as he stated on air of TV channel INTER on Friday.

"We need to build an absolutely transparent coal market. And our objective is to build a power exchange, where both imported coal and our domestic coal will be sold under market conditions. For us it is fundamentally important", stressed Volodymyr Groysman.

Starting 2016, pursuant to relevant decisions of the Government UkrGasVydobuvannya company has been working at power exchange, he said.

"These are public companies which are already starting to sell under market conditions", said Volodymyr Groysman.

Moreover, the Government eliminated corruption schemes that existed in the gas sector by introducing a single market price for gas, reminded the Prime Minister.

"They needed the low gas price for they could buy it themselves, and then they wrote them [funds – ed.] off. Because the difference in price from what people paid at lower rates, then the "Naftogaz" received as direct resources, for example, in 2014 it obtained directly from budget UAH 114 billion. The sum worth UAH 114 billion makes up almost the entire Pension Fund. It's your money, the money of Ukrainian citizens", explained Volodymyr Groysman.

"We have torn down this scheme and we consider this market should be completely transparent", said the Head of Government.
