Volodymyr Groysman: We shall invest in science and modernization of production

A strategy of aircraft industry development for the medium term until 2020 is due to be approved in March. Such were the outcomes of a meeting dedicated to the development of aircraft building industry chaired by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman at PJSC "FED" during his visit to Kharkiv. The event was also attended by First Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv and Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion.

"The development plan for aviation industry till 2020 has been created. This program was designed not just by officials, but most importantly – by real producers, institutions – and we are planning to endorse this programme in March. This will contain measures to be taken in aeronautical engineering domain, necessary resource needed to invest", announced Volodymyr Groysman during a conversation with journalists following the meeting.

"We are committed to invest in science and domestic institutions. We are committed to invest in the modernization of the manufacturing process and equipment. We will enter international markets, however, we are thinking of how to create an internal market," he said.

The Head of Government believes that it is vital to ensure cooperation of both private and public enterprises operating in the aircraft industry aimed to improve the country's competitiveness.

"Today, institutions, manufacturers producing spare parts for aircraft construction, and aircrafts are working in close collaboration. My objective is as follows: to create better environment for them, so that we could launch sustainable production of a Ukrainian plane. These are dozens and hundreds of enterprises, which work in cooperation. It means support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the point of view of retrofitting of aircrafts for the needs of national defence. And this facilitates the development of the national economy", noted the Prime Minister.

"We now must ensure integration in this complex so that we could deserve a reputation of a country having outstanding achievements in this sphere", he said.

The Prime Minister also commended the efforts and support of the Parliament for all the initiatives enabling the establishment of a special preferential regime for the domestic aviation industry.
