The delegation of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, headed by Viktor Dovhan, the Deputy Minister for European integration, together with the PJSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” visited Iran on February 5-7, 2017. There were held negotiations with the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran on cooperation in transport and developing of shipment of goods.
Priority projects in the cooperation with Ukraine include railway construction in areas Kermanshah – Malar, Rasht - Astara and Tabriz - Mane. Specialists of the regional branch of “Prydniprovska Railway” have made an inspection of the implementation of the first project, the estimated cost of which will amount to 2.3 million dollars.
According to the concluded in July 2016 Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran it is envisaged that the PJSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” can build 1,000 km railway in Iran.
The Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran invited Ukraine to join the international Persian Gulf-Black Sea Transport Corridor Agreement. Victor Dovhan noted that this initiative is important for the development of the transport corridor India – Iran – the Black Sea, and supported the involvement of additional cargo traffic on Trans-Caspian Trade and Transit Corridor.
