Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman urges the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to address in first days of work of the Parliament in January bills on special confiscation that would let the seized assets worth $ 1.5 billion be funnelled into the national budget. He said this during A Question Time for the Government at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

"I believe and insist that we get back to this issue in first days of work of Parliament in January. We must come together – I am ready to participate in it - discuss each article of the law and to make an important decision, which would allow us to return these funds," said Volodymyr Groysman.

The Prime Minister noted that the Government had recently approved another draft law on special confiscation that would let seizure of money and other assets worth $ 1.5 billion as proceeds of crime committed by former senior officials. The Cabinet of Ministers submitted it to the Verkhovna Rada, but for some technical reasons it has not been considered.

The Head of Government stressed that certain political forces claim that a bill on special confiscation is "bad and promotes corruption".

"Or maybe the opposite: it doesn’t promote corruption, it is correct, it is aimed to restore justice, but someone wants to block this process?" emphasized the Prime Minister.

He called on politicians not to speculate on this issue. "How long will we discuss laws without reading them?" he asked.

Volodymyr Groysman reiterated the plundered money must be transferred to where they belong – to the State Budget, to the citizens of Ukraine and added it was necessary to stop the discussion but determine the way to settle this issue.
