Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, had a number of consultations with official London and Madrid on the importance of signing the EU-Ukraine Open Skies Agreement during his visit to the UK and Spain. “Official London has agreed to resume negotiations with Spain on finding a mutually acceptable solution for the soonest signing of the Agreement,” Volodymyr Omelyan noted during a press conference on 20 December 2016.

“I personally decided to hold consultations with official London and Madrid in order to have a clear understanding, as well as effectively convey Ukraine’s position that the Agreement has turned from a technical issue to a political one. Just as the visa-free regime between the EU and Ukraine, the Open Skies Agreement is likewise important for Ukraine. It is pleasing that representatives from both capitals understand this, and important that official London has agreed to resume negotiations with Spain on this matter. I have informed about this the European Commission, and look forward to reaching a compromise in this triangle in the nearest future, so that in 2017 the Agreement will be signed,” the Minister said.
