Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze: Association Agreement with EU is a road map of reforms in the country

Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze had a meeting with members of the EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly.

The participants in particular discussed the ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, as well as the implementation of reforms in our country.

“The Association Agreement with the EU is extremely important for large-scale reforms in Ukraine. It is a road map of reforms. So, it is important that the Dutch Government considers the Agreement a stabilization factor in the region, an effective tool of reforms, and the Dutch Government is not willing to sacrifice it for the solution of internal political problems. Unity in the issue of the Agreement is unity in opposing Russian aggression in Ukraine, – said Vice Prime Minister. – Economic growth is a priority for us. And in line with successful reforms, it is the best answer to those who doubt Ukraine and its ability to pass this way”.

According to Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, the non-ratification of the Agreement will help revanchist forces in Ukraine.

"We in the European Parliament are disappointed and upset about it," co-chair of the EURONEST Heidi Hautala said, expressing hope that the decision of the Netherlands, which will be made in 6 weeks, not to undermine the European values enshrined in article 49 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.

A member of the Moldovan delegation to the EURONEST Dumitru Diacov noted that the ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU is in the interests of the neighbors. "The success of Moldova depends on the success of Ukraine", – he stressed.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze urged the participants to actively communicate with the Netherlands so that the Government and Parliament of this state search for wise decisions regarding ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. She also has received assurances that the autonomous trade preferences and the issue of providing visa-free regime to Ukraine have stable support in the European Parliament.
