On October 6, in Stockholm (Sweden) Minister of Defence
of Ukraine General of the Army of Ukraine Stepan
Poltorak and Minister of Defence
of Sweden Mr Peter Hultqvist
made a joint statement following their meeting.
“We have
stressed our firm position on the need to ensure the territorial
integrity of Ukraine and stated that the occupation of the part
of the Ukrainian territory is the biggest challenge to the
security of Europe and requires the solidarity of the international
community.
We have
confirmed the adherence of Sweden and Ukraine to fundamental
principles of international law, respect for sovereignty, territorial
integrity and inviolability of borders.
We have
also reiterated our readiness to further enhance defence
cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats on the basis
of strategic partnership aiming at consolidating efforts
in ensuring peace and security both in Europe and elsewhere”, the
Statement says.
General
of the Army of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak and Minister of Defence
of Sweden Mr Peter Hultqvist
also stated about continuation of the dialog in defence
at the level of defence ministers
of Sweden and Ukraine in 2017.
