«United
Kingdom will show continued support for Ukraine», said Secretary of State for
Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson during
talks with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo
Klimkin. The head of the Foreign and Commonwealth
Office also stressed that one of his first foreign visits is paid to Kyiv as
the special manifestation of London’s attention to Ukraine.
The
question of efforts of Ukraine, Great Britain and the entire civilized world to
counter Russian military aggression against Ukraine was an important
issue during
the negotiations. Boris Johnson said that Great Britain will continue to
support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. He noted the
importance of further pressure on Russia, including through sanctions, to
implement the Minsk agreements and stop Russian aggression.
Boris
Johnson assured that the UK’s practical assistance to Ukraine will be continued
in conducting systemic reforms, particularly in fight against corruption, in
judiciary and tax service. Pavlo Klimkin
and Boris Johnson agreed that in the near future a UK strategic communications
advisor will join the team of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry within
the framework of reforming the diplomatic service of Ukraine and capacity
building of the MFA of Ukraine in the field of public diplomacy.
