The Government is ready to cooperate with the Ukrainian Parliament and looking forward to expedite work on the adoption of efficient laws necessary for the development of the country. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced in his opening statement during a Government session on Thursday.

"I think that the task of the new session of Parliament and our fellow MPs is to accelerate our joint activities. I want to reiterate that the Government stands ready to interact with MPs, committees, factions of the Ukrainian Parliament. We are eager for constructive, efficient work, to ensure that as a result of the adoption of the laws crucial for the country's development we obtain high quality", said Volodymyr Groysman.

The Head of the Government reminded that on Tuesday the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine had opened its fifth session.

Volodymyr Groysman noted that for a couple of years, the Verkhovna Rada of the VIII convocation had been working on a number of important bills, which are now introduced into life. Over this period we have managed to enact about 500 laws. In particular, while Volodymyr Groysman was in the office of Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada there was formed the entire base of anti-corruption legislation, on reforming the National police, the laws related to the decentralization of power and deregulation, "and other laws that actually began to change the country”.

However, the Prime Minister stressed that the quantity cannot be a criterion to evaluate the work of Parliament.

"Our main problem in recent years is the speed of reforms. If we advanced faster, I think, these reforms would have yielded more positive results", urged Volodymyr Groysman.

The Head of Government highlighted the need to enhance fruitful cooperation with the Verkhovna Rada and noted that the Government will do its utmost with this purpose.

"I am looking forward to synergy with the Ukrainian Parliament and beginning our work, thereby bringing about positive changes", summed up the PM.
