Volodymyr Groysman summons a meeting to tackle the state of Ukraine's preparation for the upcoming autumn-winter period

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman held a meeting dedicated to the problematic issues in the energy sector and measures to prepare the fuel and energy complex for 2016-17 autumn-winter period. The participants discussed urgent problems of the fuel industry, in particular the provision of coal, electricity, and the situation in the gas sector.

"Winter is not far off, and it's the middle of summer – the time when we need to draw conclusions regarding what tasks should be set in the center and in the regions in order to pass the autumn and winter without problems, to provide people with electrical energy, heating, water, to organize properly clean-up of Ukrainian roads. I consider that it all depends on proper coordination of work between ministries and local authorities, and clear determining of priorities basing on the tasks for us to solve", said Volodymyr Groysman on opening the meeting.

The Prime Minister noted the need for the search of ways to diversify deliveries of coal, and gave a task to provide logistical support and transportation of it. In addition, we need to increase the share of nuclear power generation industry, he said. "We are talking about the national security of our country", he stressed.

The next Staff’s meeting is due in August, said Volodymyr Groysman. The Staff will operate steadily. "I need constant monitoring of the tasks that you perform to ensure our readiness to the autumn-winter period", he emphasized.

The meeting was attended by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Ihor Nasalyk, Director of the Board of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia Wojciech Balczun, President of State Enterprise “National Nuclear Energy Generating Company “Energoatom” Yurii Nedashkovsky, Director of SE Energorynok Yurii Gnatiuk, Chairman National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission Dmytro Vovk, Director of the Board of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy Andrii Kobolev and representatives of ministries and departments of central bodies of executive authorities.
