Prime
Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman has instructed the Ministries to start
work on preparations for the immediate implementation of the Free Trade Agreement
with Canada after its ratification by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
"I want
to call on today all the Ministers to immediately start work on the preparation
of the implementation of the Agreement on a free trade area with Canada," said Volodymyr Groysman, opening a government
meeting on Wednesday.
The Prime
Minister has ordered First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economic
Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv to coordinate the work of the Ministries
and departments in this issue.
He has recalled
that earlier this week during the visit of Prime Minister of Canada Justin
Trudeau to Ukraine it was signed the Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement, which
gives us access to the USD 500 billion market.
The Prime
Minister pointed out that the Agreement must be ratified by the Verkhovna Rada
of Ukraine.
This is the
first Free Trade Agreement signed by Ukraine after the Agreement with the European
Union, he noted.
Volodymyr
Groysman has also stressed the need to foster dialogue with Canadian business
to attract investment in Ukraine. Thus, on June 20-21 in Toronto it was held
the Canadian-Ukrainian business forum, where the contacts between businesses
were developed, he reminded.
The Prime
Minister said that he had a substantive conversation with Prime Minister of
Canada Justin Trudeau on possible areas of cooperation. According to him,
Ukraine and Canada have a lot of directions for development, including:
aircraft construction, railway sector, agricultural sector, IT sector, pharmaceutical
market.
In this
context, Volodymyr Groysman has stressed that the State Fiscal Service of
Ukraine, Customs Service and other regulatory structures should immediately
proceed to audit all the procedures in order to provide comfort import and
export in terms of increasing trade between the countries.
The Prime
Minister has also emphasized the importance of the work of trade missions
abroad. "We have to sell Ukrainian products abroad and invest currency in the
development of the national economy," he pointed out.
He thanked
First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of
Ukraine Stepan Kubiv, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of
Ukraine, the previous Government and other staff for their work on preparations
for the signing of the Free Trade Agreement with Canada.
