
Volodymyr Groysman: Gov't is ready to do its utmost to ensure the success of every dollar of investment in Ukraine
The
Government of Ukraine will do its utmost to ensure the success of business and
investment, involved in Ukraine. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman stated
this at the Ukraine Energy Conference on Thursday, June 30.
"We
would like very much every dollar, every euro, every hryvnia, being invested in
the economy, to be successful. We are interested in this. We are interested not
just in investment. We are interested in your success, so that your experience encourages
other companies to take part in the Ukraine’s economy," emphasized Volodymyr
Groysman.
The Prime
Minister pointed out that over the past two years a number of important
decisions have been taken to overcome the systemic problems of the country,
particularly in the areas of deregulation, effective fight against corruption,
the launch of fundamental reform of the judicial system. Thus, has been created
all necessary legislation to effectively combat corruption, newly established
anti-corruption bodies have started their functioning. Ukrainian Parliament has
recently launched the judicial reform. "Within several years, Ukraine will
have an accessible judicial system, an open, transparent system that will
protect human rights and establish justice in our country. The Government will
support this reform, so that a fair trial appears in Ukraine as soon as
possible," noted Volodymyr Groysman.
One of the
first steps undertaken by the Government was the establishment of the market-based
gas price, aimed at creating real market conditions in the energy sector, the
Prime Minister reminded.
Also, the
Government has privatized one of the largest state-run enterprises - Odessa Portside
Plant - and continues appointing the management of Ukrainian companies selected
as a result of open competition.
The Prime
Minister emphasized that the National Bank of Ukraine is undertaking currency
deregulation and expressed hope that this process will continue. Moreover, the
Government continues further work with the International Monetary Fund.
From August
1, all public procurements will be made through ProZorro public e-procurement
system, said Volodymyr Groysman. "This means that Ukrainian companies will
have extra possibilities of competitive participation in the process of
production and its sale for public use," he said.
Volodymyr
Groysman informed about the creation of the Investment Support Office under the
auspice of the Prime Minister.
Volodymyr
Groysman underlined that excessive regulatory bodies will be eliminated until 1
July. "The Government and I as Prime Minister object to any pressure on
the business, and are ready to protect those who may still suffer from various supervisory
bodies," he stressed.
The Prime
Minister stressed that the strategic task of the Ukrainian Government is the
revival of the national economy. According to him, Ukraine has to move away
from a commodity-based economy.
Volodymyr
Groysman reminded that the maintenance of macroeconomic stability, as well as economic
growth are the priorities of the Government.
