First foreign visits of the Government’s leadership confirm the high
potential of Ukraine’s investment attractiveness that will contribute to the
national economic development and job creation. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said this,
opening a Government’s session on Friday, 24 June.
"Our international visits to the United States and Canada show that
we have a great potential for attracting investment, developing the national
economy, creating new jobs. And we have to use this potential. Searching for
new opportunities, attracting new investment both international and internal,
is a guarantee that we are building up a strong economy," said Volodymyr Groysman.
The Prime Minister recalled that recently delegations of the Ukrainian
Government carried out international visits to the United States and Canada,
led by the Prime Minister and First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economic
Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv. During these visits, there were many meetings with
representatives of business circles aimed at promoting investment.
Thus, on June 20, Canada hosted the First Canadian-Ukrainian Business Forum,
which was attended by hundreds of companies and entrepreneurs interested in Ukraine.
"We are looking forward to qualitative positive results and signals,"
said the Head of Government.
Next week the Prime Minister is leaving for Germany with a working visit.
He is going to meet with German business in the framework of this visit. During
these meetings we will discuss issues of bilateral relations and attraction of
German capital to the Ukrainian economy, Volodymyr Groysman informed.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the signing of a free trade area
between Ukraine and Canada is scheduled for next month. "We are looking
forward to signing the FTA agreement with Canada. This will mean
that we will have new markets for Ukrainian products. It is essential to use
this tool in a qualitative way," he stated.
In this context, Volodymyr Groysman
emphasized the importance of strengthening the trade mission of Ukraine in
order to adequately represent Ukrainian producers in those countries where
there is demand on Ukrainian products.
The Prime Minister also urged the Ministers to pay great attention to preventing
control bodies from pressure on business. "Each of your institutions can
either help investors or press on them. I want to emphasize that no pressure
from any controlling structure can take place. This is unacceptable," he
stressed.
Volodymyr Groysman
noted that in the near future the Office for
Accompanying Investment under auspice of the Prime Minister would be
established.
