On Thursday, June
16, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman met with U.S. Senator John McCain.
The Prime Minister
thanked John McCain for his clear position in support of Ukraine "in this
hard historical time for the country."
Volodymyr Groysman told the Senator about the first decisions undertaken
by the Government over the time it has been formed. Among
them: the introduction of the single market-based gas price, the launch of public
privatization of state enterprises, the process of deregulation and the fight
against corruption. "We
are doing our utmost to effectively combat corruption," he pointed out.
The Prime
Minister informed that Ukraine launched judicial reform after the constitutional amendments
adopted by the Verkhovna Rada
in the judicial sector. Moreover,
the Government continues cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, he
said.
Volodymyr Groysman emphasized the Ukrainian army and its arms needed to be modernized.
He also informed the Senator about the situation in Donbas.
