The Government is working to elaborate solutions to support small farms, thereby promoting the development of domestic production and enhancing export potential of the country. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced during a ceremony of opening of International Agroindustrial exhibition "AGRO-2016" on Wednesday, June 8.

"Our vision is to support in particular, small, medium-sized farms. In synergy with the Ministry we are developing proposals, that we can take into account in 2016 already, aimed to support each agricultural producer, medium-sized farms", said Volodymyr Groysman.

"We are interested to enlarge spectrum of production, we are eager to ensure all stages of processing, hence we will produce the end product", he stressed.

According to him, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Kutovy together with representatives of the agricultural industry are working to develop solutions to back small farms, in particular regarding cooperation between small farms in export activities and in new markets.

"We must provide financial assistance to agro producers, small farmers, on the other hand, to ensure transparency in the provision of this funding," said Volodymyr Groysman. The public and farmers' associations will be involved in this process, he added.

However, it is vital to boost export potential of the country, said Volodymyr Groysman. For this purpose, the Government is considering a possibility of establishing trade missions and ways to support domestic producers in the markets of other countries.

"We are currently exporting produce to over 190 countries, but it is necessary to grow, of course, both the quantities of products, and end products we can deliver. Here we have a huge potential for economic blossoming," he noted.

Moreover, the Prime Minister pointed out the need to add capacity of livestock and poultry industries. "Here you won’t find simple solutions, but the topmost thing is to protect our national producer today," he urged.

The Head of Government noted that presently Ukraine ensures the full range of agricultural production - from agricultural engineering to the final product for consumption, therefore we should foster development and growth of the agricultural sector. "The agricultural sector of Ukraine is developing, it has a number of problems, but the potential to grow is extremely high. Our main goal is to create added value in the processing industry. We must ensure transition from a resource based economy, thus ensuring added value in Ukraine. It means new jobs and a new quality product", said Volodymyr Groysman.

It is also significant to prolong deregulation and to reduce the pressure by regulatory authorities on agricultural business. "Our farmers and agrarians must have confidence that they will use lands in the medium and long term, which is extremely important. And, of course, support for the farmer will enable us to reach a new level of development of agrarian sector in Ukraine", he stressed.

"We will boost our domestic production, we will deepen processing, recover livestock breeding and provide decent living standards, in particular in rural communities, promised Volodymyr Groysman. I see huge prospects and am deeply convinced that, if we have a system-based approach in this issue the situation will change for the better", he noted.
