Approval of amendments by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the Law of Ukraine "On Medicinal Products" concerning simplification of registration of medicines will promote the development of national production of drugs, will cause the reducing of prices, will open access to quality medicines as well as will open the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced in his opening statement during the Government session on Wednesday.
"Yesterday we included changes to the Medicines Act. This means that the quality medications produced and consumed in the markets of the European Union, the U.S.A., Canada, Australia, Japan will now be freely available in Ukraine. These are the drugs of good quality, these medicines cost a normal price, but not inflated like we have it today in Ukraine with the drugs, which are supervised by pharmaceutical dealers who decide whom to allow into the Ukrainian market, and whom not", said Volodymyr Groysman, commenting on the vote for this bill which had taken place the previous day in Parliament.
The Prime Minister thanked Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubii "for the principled stance in this matter," the Presidium of the Verkhovna Rada and the MPs who supported the Act and facilitated it to be approved by the Parliament’s committees and in the session hall.
This decision was also supported by the President of
Ukraine and he is ready to sign the Law as soon as it
will be submitted, said the Prime Minister. "It will
mean that we put an end in this story and will develop the
national production of medicines in a competitive environment. And this
implies that there will be both the price and quality, while
people will have access to absolutely new quality of medicines", he
stressed.
Volodymyr Groysman highlighted that within a month the adoption of this Law had been blocked. At that the Head of Government noted that many were not interested in adoption of this Law, what prove the results of voting by factions in the Parliament. "Let's see how the populists were voting, with how many votes certain factions supported it. You will see that they gave votes just to say: "Our faction participated in the voting”, but in reality they didn't want it to succeed and blocked it."
