PM discussed reforms in Ukraine with Treasury's Assistant Secretary for International Finance Ramin Toloui

On Monday, May 23, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman held a meeting with Treasury’s Assistant Secretary for International Finance Ramin Toloui. The sides discussed priority directions of reforms in Ukraine and prospects of bilateral cooperation.

The Prime Minister thanked the USA for a decision on the allocation of credit guarantees of $ 1 billion to support Ukraine. "This is an important step for the macroeconomic stability of our country," he stressed.

Volodymyr Groysman informed that last week the IMF Mission completed its work in Ukraine. According to him, the Government will continue its cooperation with the IMF and will do its utmost to meet the obligations assumed by Ukraine. "The Government of Ukraine is committed to carrying out structural and systematic reforms in the country, and we are aware that these reforms are needed especially in our country," he underlined.

Thus, among the priorities of the Government’s activity is the fight against corruption, particularly in state-owned enterprises through public election of their management on the competitive basis and provision of open privatization as well as reform of the Ukrainian customs. Also, the Government is focused on reforming of the energy sector, improving the efficiency of social policy and institutional capacity of power, ensuring equal conditions for doing business, carrying out deregulation and pension reform, noted Volodymyr Groysman.

The Prime Minister recalled that earlier on Monday he met with Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Robert Gil Kerlikowske. During the meeting there was signed an Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United States of America on mutual assistance between the customs administrations.
