The Prime
Minister of Ukraine thanked the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark for
the visit, which is first in the history of Ukraine. "This is a historic
day. And for me, this day is also symbolic, as it is my first international
meeting as the Prime Minister," he said.
Volodymyr Groysman informed his counterpart that the previous week the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine had approved the formation of a new Cabinet of Ministers, the composition of which includes for the first time the post of Vice Prime Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic integration, to which Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze had been appointed. This decision proves that European integration is one of the core priorities for the new Government, stressed the Prime Minister.
The Government is committed, "having new force and energy", to accelerate the implementation of reforms in Ukraine, highlighted Volodymyr Groysman. Among the main objectives for the Cabinet of Ministers are to ease conditions for doing business, as well as to upgrade tax legislation, the Ukrainian customs and root out corruption in these spheres. "Business has to be developing totally smooth in the country", stressed the Head of the Government.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine expressed belief that Ukraine and Denmark possess significant potential for the development of bilateral relations. In this context, Volodymyr Groysman welcomed the holding of the Denmark-Ukraine Business Forum and assured that all the tasks our foreign guests had set in the area of doing business in Ukraine will be "the homework" for the Ukrainian Government.
In turn, Prime Minister of Denmark Lars Rasmussen congratulated Volodymyr Groysman on the appointment to the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine and commended the Government's plans to implement reforms in Ukraine and to prolong cooperation with the International Monetary Fund. "The best safeguard protecting Ukraine against Russia is a successful reform process," he said.
Lars Rasmussen assured that Denmark would continue to support Ukraine in its European integration aspirations and the implementation of reforms, reassuring that Ukraine would remain among top foreign policy priorities for the Government of Denmark. He also noted a growing interest in the development of business relations with Ukraine.
Besides, the parties discussed the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Volodymyr Groysman stressed that Ukraine was eager to abide by the Agreements and had taken numerous steps to execute the assumed obligations. In turn Lars Rasmussen assured that Denmark condemns the annexation of Crimea and is resolute to continue the policy of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
