MIP in ATO zone: in Horlivka direction the12th independent mechanized infantry battalion now has an access to thirty Ukrainian channels

“The 12th independent mechanized infantry battalion is stationed on several directions, so it reflects the overall situation concerning broadcasting at the front. Unfortunately, the deployment of units near Troitsky does not facilitate providing units with informational support, and satellites, which were received by the units in August 2015, have failed because of the ongoing hostilities.  Therefore, the Commission for restoring broadcasting created under MIP will come up with giving new satellites to those units, whose satellites were destroyed”, said Oleksandr Brygynets, an Advisor to the Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine on promoting functioning of TV and radio broadcasting. 

Lieutenant Dmytro Yashchenko, a company Deputy Commander for Personnel, said that apart from providing entertainment and information, an access to the Ukrainian TV has a special effect. “When soldiers watch their favorite programs, they feel themselves at home. Television has become an integral part of our life, so guys prefer watching those channels, which they watched at home”, said Mr.Yashchenko.

Oleksandr Brygynets, after analyzing broadcasting in the region, points out that the situation on Horlivka direction has improved substantially - the12th independent mechanized infantry battalion has an access to thirty Ukrainian channels. “We are doing everything possible to provide every unit, which is stationed at the front line, with inextricable information link with the home front.  And, fortunately, our inspections show that situation is not as bad as some of the mass media have reported lately. 

It should be mentioned that in ATO zone there is a permanent monitoring mission of MIP, the purpose of which is to explore and reintegrate information space of the East. According to the results received, on a weekly basis at the meeting of the Commission under MIP relevant decisions are made in concordance with the information gathered in cities and villages of ATO zone. According to the decisions, broadcasting equipment is allocated and installed by the BRT Concern, and the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine singles out frequency for broadcasting.
