Arseniy Yatsenyuk: I hope the next plenary week the Verkhovna Rada will adopt as whole the law on forfeiture of USD 1.5 billion of Yanukovych's assets
“I hope the next plenary week the Verkhovna Rada will push the matter through and adopt the law as whole to enable forfeiture of USD 1.5 billion that had been plundered by the regime of Viktor Yanukovych”, stressed Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk in 10 Minutes with the Prime Minister programme on Sunday, March 20.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded that in the passing week, on insistence of the People’s Front faction and the Government of Ukraine the Parliament in the first reading had finally passed the law that allows the confiscation of USD 1.5 billion stolen by the regime of Viktor Yanukovych and his associates.
“These funds were arrested over a year ago by the Government, but have not been confiscated up to date”, he urged.
Following the approval of this law as whole, the Prime Minister emphasized, the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and judiciary will be able to carry out a lawful procedure of forfeiture of these assets: “These funds are due to be allotted to cover the demands of the Ukrainian Army and to improve the welfare standards within the country”.
