PM: Government calls on President and Parliament to offer their candidates to contest commission on election of SBI director

"The Government of Ukraine has appealed to the President and Parliament to offer their candidates to the contest commission on election of a director of the State Bureau of Investigation," stressed Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk at a joint board meeting of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Justice Ministry of Ukraine entitled "From new police towards new justice and citizenship security" on Wednesday, February 10.

The Prime Minister recalled that Parliament had supported the Government's decision on establishing the SBI.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the State Bureau of Investigation as a new independent body would be involved in investigating a number of crimes.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk has also pointed out that "the Prosecutor's Office needs further reform."
