"We have a parliamentary and
presidential republic. You are responsible members of the Parliament. We are
responsible members of the Government. We’ve come together, we’d be
together", the Prime Minister of Ukraine turned to MPs during An Hour of Questions
to the Government at the Parliament on Friday, 5 February.
He said addressing MPs: “You have a
constitutional right to submit to the Verkhovna Rada a resolution of no-confidence in the Cabinet. Please invoke
the right. Put the question of no-confidence in the Cabinet. If the initiative
collects votes, we will hand over authority to the new Cabinet honorably and
proudly. Take this step. It will be your responsibility.”
“And now we are doing our work. Our
responsibility is to perform reforms, to hold the country, to form the Budget,
to attract capital into the country to keep going,” the Head of the Government
noted.
He said previous Parliament
appointed his as a Prime Minister two years ago and then it appointed members
of the Cabinet: "All we were appointed as members of the Cabinet by this
Parliament a year ago. I had made the decision, understanding all political
ramifications for me".
"I’ve made the decision as a
politician together with our team to change tariffs, to change social police
and system. I adopted unpopular decisions that would not be adopted by any
Prime Minister for 20 years - too many politicians scare for the rating. I
worry only about the rating of the country,” the Head of Government stressed.
Answering the question of MP
regarding my cooperation with the President of Ukraine, Arseniy
Yatsenyuk noted: "the President together with
the Government bears full responsibility. The President is the political
partner of the Prime Minister. President is a responsible person for the fate
of the country. The Prime Minister will work with the President, if the
President wants this."
The PM turned to the MPs and said
the Cabinet and the country don’t need "eternal attack and the struggle
for power". Officials need unconditional support: "Help them - and
you’ll help the country."
