“It is extremely important for Ukraine to receive support from our
Canadian friends in the National police reform - both in the training of new
Ukrainian police and technical assistance, with the intention that the
Ukrainian police meets the highest standards”, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed on
Monday, February 1, at a press point following the meeting with the Minister of
foreign Affairs of Canada Stéphane Dion.
“Canadian police take an active part in reforming of the Ukrainian
police” he stressed.
The Head of Ukrainian Government also stressed that about 200 servicemen
of Canada are working with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, "they train the
Ukrainian Armed Forces and provide technical assistance to the Ukrainian Armed
Forces meets the high standards of NATO”.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
stressed on the importance that the reform of the armed sector of Ukraine will
have support, “Canada and our Western partners together with the United States
of America are involved in this process”.
He noted that this is the first visit of the Minister of foreign Affairs
of Canada after the appointment of the new Canadian Government. The Prime
Minister of Ukraine said that after the election the new Prime Minister of
Canada he had with Justin Trudeau long phone conversation "on how we will
continue to develop relations between Ukraine and Canada”.
"Canada is a country that supports Ukraine in our struggle against
Russian aggression. Canada is a member country of G7 and NATO, and due to the
position of the Canada Ukraine receives political, economic and military
support”, Arseniy Yatsenyuk
said.
Prime Minister of Ukraine also expressed gratitude to the Canadian
Government for providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
