Roman Nasirov met with Director General of Moldova Customs Service Tudor Balitchi

The establishment of joint checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border and the strengthening of information exchange between the customs authorities of the two countries were the main topics of a working meeting of Chairman of the State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov and Director General of Moldova Customs Service Tudor Balitchi, on 25 January at the SFS.

"Effective implementation of joint customs control will definitely contribute to the simplification of customs procedures on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border and to increasing the level of comfort when crossing it. Moreover, there will be improved the mechanisms for preventing and combating the illegal movement of goods. For this purpose there have been strengthened an information component in cooperation between the customs authorities of the two countries", said Roman Nasirov.

The introduction of joint customs control was provided to 7 checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border. At present, such joint control is carried out at checkpoints Reni – Giurgiuleşti, KelmentsiLarga, Mamalyga - Kryva, RossoshanyBriceni and there is underway the reconstruction of several checkpoints on the territory of Ukraine and on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the issues of improving inter-agency cooperation in terms of information exchange on suspicious shipment of excisable goods, the prevention and countering cross-border crimes, joint law enforcement operations.

The same day Roman Nasirov and Tudor Balitchi took part in an informal meeting with the EUBAM mission (European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine), which was held under the support of Head of the EU delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski.
