PM says energy sector reform helped to provide 5.2 mln households with subsidies and led to tenfold reduction of Naftogaz's deficit
Reform of the energy sector helped to provide 5.2
million households with subsidies of and complete the full reorganization of NJSC
Naftogaz Ukrainy, which led
to a tenfold reduction of Naftogaz’s deficit, underlined
Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk
at a press conference on the results of 2015, on Tuesday, December 29.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that the Government and he personally decided
to conduct a large-scale reform of the energy sector.
The complete reorganization of Naftogaz
Ukrainy was part of this reform, which last year was
subsidized from the state budget - 10 billion dollars, "and this year we
have ten times reduced the amount of subsidies, and it makes up just one
billion dollars."
The Prime Minister pointed out that the Government
completely changed the policy of tariff pricing in the Ukrainian energy sector.
He emphasized that 5.2 million Ukrainian households had
already received subsidies: "Every family that needs help from the state
budget, the state has provided direct subsidy, provided funds and covered a corresponding
rise in prices and tariffs and offset energy market rates."
