“Israel is
the most important foreign economic partner in terms of trade partnership
prospects. Today more than 40% of Israeli bread is baked from Ukrainian grain. For 10 months of 2015 alone, Ukraine has exported grain
for the total of $217 million to the Israeli market”, Oleksii
Pavlenko, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of
Ukraine, stressed in his piece for the agrarian Internet-periodical “Agravery”.
According
to the Minister, every second loaf of bread in Israel is baked from Ukrainian
flour. Moreover, last year, Ukraine exported grain in the amount of $ 260
million to Israel, while the total grain import of Israel amounts to $704
million. Particularly, in 2014, we exported 390 thousand tons of wheat to
Israel,- which accounted for 41,4% of the total import
of wheat to Israel.
“However,
our aim is not a mere export of grain to Israel, but we want to introduce
modern Israeli technologies, which showcase runaway success in the agrarian
industry. We perfectly understand that Israel today is an indisputable leader
in all spheres of agro-industry”, the Minister stressed.
Oleksii Pavlenko noted that additionally to establishing of trade
relations, the Ukrainian-Israeli cooperation is aimed at providing Ukrainian
farmers and agricultural producers with technical assistance. This is a way to
increase their potential as producers and to ensure the effectiveness of
agricultural products production.
“Today,
Ukraine needs partners, which will vest confidence in the future of our state
and help to reach a new level of development. I hope that cooperation between
Israel and Ukraine will become a successful example of such confidence”, Oleksii Pavlenko stressed.
