Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk appealed to members of the Ukrainian Parliament to vote on all the bills necessary to introduce a visa-free regime between Ukraine and the EU "to provide more proofs to our European partners that the Ukrainian citizens deserve a visa-free regime". He said at the Parliament session on Thursday, November 5.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk noted a very good level of cooperation between the Government of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada: "We have agreed on practically all bills that need to be adopted. In the process of preparing the bills for a second reading the committees and the Government reached mutual understanding, so we can affirm that the lion's share of today's laws will be supported in the second reading and in general."

He singled out one of the bills, No. 3224, Certifying Ukrainian Citizenship, Personal Identification, or Special Status, and explained the Government was ready to take it back to the Cabinet of Ministers: "We will finalise it, following yesterday's consultations with the factions. The next plenary week, we are resolute to introduce that to the Parliament and, if it be the will of the Ukrainian Parliament, it will be adopted as a basis and in whole".

Regarding bills 2540 and 2541a, which, according to the Head of the Government, caused certain misunderstanding, Arseniy Yatsenyuk appealed to the MPs to be careful "so that while considering these bills not to alter the essence and form of laws, to ensure that the laws correspond to the criteria determined by the European Union".

The Prime Minister informed that day he would fly to Riga, where he is to participate in a joint meeting of the heads of government of Ukraine and the Baltic States: "The main agenda of this meeting is obtaining a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens, the implementation of the reform plan and the support of the European Union in Ukraine’s advancement in the reform process".

"The Ukrainian Parliament knows the value of political responsibility and political unity, so they adopt all the laws necessary to ensure visa-free travel for the citizens of Ukraine in the European Union", said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
