Through November 5 – 6, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk is scheduled to fly to the Republic of Latvia on a working visit at the invitation of his Latvian counterpart Laimdota Straujuma.

In the framework of the visit there will take place the first in the foreign policy practice joint meeting of the heads of government of Ukraine and the Baltic States: Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Laimdota Straujuma (Latvia), Algirdas Butkevičius (Lithuania) and Taavi Rõivas (Estonia). A new format of the dialogue aims to strengthen and expand the strategic Baltic-Ukrainian collaboration. It is expected that the talks between the heads of government would focus on maintaining peace within the region, solidarity and joint counteraction to the Russian aggression against our country and fundamental principles of international communication. The parties would also tackle the development of political, economic and humanitarian cooperation, practical assistance in ongoing reforming process in Ukraine and its European integration.

In Riga Arseniy Yatsenyuk is to hold talks with Head of the Latvian Government Laimdota Straujuma to discuss urgent tasks of bilateral cooperation and internal transformations. This theme will also be the core issue during meetings of the Prime Minister of Ukraine with President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis and Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia Inara Murniece.

The visit’s agenda envisages a meeting of the Prime Minister of Ukraine with Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis, a visit of the NATO Strategic Communications Centre and a famous Ukrainian school in Riga.

Prime Minister of Ukraine is to participate in the 10th annual Riga conference – a prestigious international forum which focuses on EU's geoeconomic role this year.

In the frames of the visit the Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Latvia will open a monument to Taras Shevchenko in Riga.
